Do you support a child on the autism spectrum?

If you are a parent of an autistic child you know their struggle to integrate into society and the labor force

How to prevent your child from being left out?

Your child can grow to develop the social and professional skills to gain a good quality of life. Embracing this adventurous journey requires perseverance and counting with a solid support system. I know it is feasible because I have witnessed it in my work with autism . The goal is to help each person reach an autonomous and fulfilling life path by harnessing their intrinsic motivations and enabling them to establish healthy relationships with their peers.

Interview to Dr. Naiara Belart García by Stephen K. Levine

I offer digital arts education and therapy for adolescents and young adults on the spectrum. In these sessions, I invite your Asperger adolescent to create his own project with different forms of technology-based media. This may allow him to explore a potential career path harnessing his intrinsic motivation to guide him through a productive learning process. I can apply the following modalities for anyone interested in exploring the multimedia arts in a safe and therapeutic setting.

My digital art therapy approach

This newer version of art therapy, this includes all forms of technology-based media, which can be used as a form of self-expression. It works particularly well for those “digital natives” for whom computers have always formed part of their life experience and can be picked up anytime and anywhere as a style of self-care.

The process

As of today, almost every aspect of our lives is shaped, mediated, and informed by the conspicuous – and often beneficial –nature of digital technology. An especially important implication of this twenty-first century shift is the use of these newly-available tools and techniques which can promote therapeutic outcomes, and offer new opportunities for communication, self-expression, and authentic connection.

Outcomes

My Ph.D. research journey has been eye-opening, to say the least. The process educated both my ASD clients and myself on a rich range of topics. These experiences did more than deepen my understanding as a therapist and a human being. They offered useful insights for therapists working with individuals on the autism spectrum and those otherwise touched by this condition.
